At Olive & Co. Boston Terriers, we believe excellence begins long before a puppy is ever born. It begins with intention, discernment, and a deep respect for the dogs entrusted to us. We keep our program intentionally small, retaining only the very best of our puppies to become part of our future. Temperament that is steady and affectionate. Structure that reflects the classic Boston Terrier we love. Beauty that never comes at the expense of health or heart.
Because of this, our breeding dogs represent the very best of what Olive & Co. has to offer. They are not only carefully chosen, they are deeply cherished.
Our Guardian Home Program exists to ensure these exceptional dogs live full, ordinary, joy-filled lives in loving family homes throughout their breeding years. Rather than being raised solely within a breeding environment, our guardian dogs grow up on couches, underfoot, and in the rhythms of real family life. They are trained, adored, and woven into your everyday moments, while partnering with us in a thoughtfully managed breeding journey.
The Process
As a guardian family, you welcome one of our dogs into your home as your beloved companion. She is yours in every way that matters day to day. We retain breeding rights and maintain an ongoing relationship with her to ensure she remains comfortable, confident, and well cared for within our program.
Throughout the year, your guardian dog will visit us periodically for health testing, continued socialization, and to maintain a strong bond with our family. When it is time for her to become a mama, she will stay with us for a short season. Typically, this includes one to two weeks before her due date and until her puppies are fully weaned, around six weeks of age. During this time, she is cared for closely, surrounded by familiarity, calm, and constant attention.
Once her puppies are ready, she returns home to the people, routines, and treats she knows and loves.

We place strict limits on the number of litters any guardian female will have, always prioritizing her physical and emotional well-being. Olive & Co. covers all costs associated with breeding, pregnancy, delivery, and raising her puppies.
When her breeding chapter comes to a close, usually around five years of age, we cover the cost of her spay. At that point, full ownership is transferred to you, and she remains exactly where she belongs. Home. Permanently. A cherished companion, a familiar presence, and very often, a real-life teddy bear.
Guardian homes are not about convenience or numbers. They are about alignment. This program is designed for families who value thoughtful breeding, open communication, and the quiet joy of loving a truly special dog while partnering in something bigger than themselves.

Is The Guardian Home Program Right For You?
Guardian Home Program Requirements:
• Have a working understanding of the behaviors associated with intact female dogs, including recognizing the signs of a heat cycle and communicating promptly when changes arise
• Understand and agree that the dog remains the property of Olive & Co. Boston Terriers throughout her breeding career, with full ownership and documentation transferred only after she has been spayed at the completion of her guardianship
• Provide abundant love, affection, and daily companionship, welcoming the dog fully into family life
• Maintain open and consistent communication with us regarding the dog’s health, development, temperament, and overall condition at all times

• Provide excellent veterinary care, attend all necessary appointments, and feed an Olive & Co.–approved, high-quality diet that supports long-term health
• For breeding females, reside within a two-hour drive of Dade City, Florida, allowing for timely and stress-free travel during breeding seasons
• Keep the dog as an indoor family pet, with access to a securely fenced yard, and ensure the dog is always leashed during outdoor outings beyond the home
• Maintain a lifestyle and schedule that does not require the dog to be left alone for extended periods of time on a regular basis
• Commit to early training and socialization by enrolling the puppy in a puppy manners course or a series of obedience classes prior to six months of age
These requirements exist not to limit applicants, but to protect the dogs who are entrusted to us and to ensure every guardian experience is peaceful, predictable, and deeply rewarding for all involved.​
